Winter
Winter trips and winter vacation packages
Winter offers the biggest price differences within the same season. The exact same trip can cost less than half if you depart in February instead of Christmas Eve, and long-distance destinations close months before the holidays. Below you will find our winter travel packages, with current departures and prices.
Exotic winter vacations, where it's warm
If what you're looking for is sea and sun in January, the options are specific and depend mainly on how far you want to go. With a flight of less than five hours, the Canary Islands and the Red Sea keep temperatures around 20 degrees throughout the winter, with the sea remaining swimmable.
For a truly tropical climate, you need a longer distance. Southeast Asia is in its dry season from November to February, which is the most passable time of year to visit. The Caribbean also has a dry season in the winter months. In the southern hemisphere, from the Indian Ocean to the Pacific, our winter is the local summer, with the caveat that in some areas it coincides with the wet season.
City breaks and Christmas markets in Europe
Central Europe is the easiest way to travel in winter without spending a lot of money. The distances are short, the flights are frequent, and the four- or five-day programs fit into an extended weekend. From mid-November until just before Christmas, the Christmas markets operate, which completely change the character of the historic centers.
After Epiphany, Europe itself becomes significantly cheaper, with the same attractions and much fewer people. See also the special packages for Christmas , New Year and Epiphany , as well as all trips to Europe .
Northern Lights and Northern Destinations
The Northern Lights are one of the few reasons why winter is a must-see season, not an option. Darkness is required, so the season opens in the fall and closes in the spring. Trips are planned with several overnight stays so that the weather has more than one chance to cooperate.
Long-distance trips with winter departures
Many destinations that are difficult to reach in the summer due to heat or monsoons become accessible in the winter. Northern India, Southeast Asia and parts of Latin America have their most accessible months between December and March. The bank holidays, Ash Wednesday and March 25th provide the extra days off that a ten- or thirteen-day trip requires. See all long-distance trips .
When to close?
For holiday departures, from mid-December to Epiphany, airline and hotel reservations are booked from the fall. For January, February and March there is more time, but flight prices go up as the date approaches.
