We start from the Park of Love with the famous sculpture ''The Kiss'' and a fantastic view of the Atlantic. We cross the Miraflores area for a panoramic view of the Huaca Pucllana archaeological site with the large clay pyramid. We go down to the square of the hero of the revolution José de Martín and "trace" the pedestrian street with the historical buildings, which leads us to the Plaza de Armas. The Presidential Palace, the Colonial City Hall, and the Cathedral are some of the stops on our urban wandering. If we are lucky with the timing, we will also watch the changing of the guard at the Presidential Palace. Our next stop is the Monastery of St. Francis, quite close to the Square of Arms, known for its famous library, as well as for the cemetery - catacomb. Our day will end with a visit to the magnificent Gold Museum. After the tour, return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: LIMA – CUSCO (SIGHTSEEING & SACSAHUAMAN)
+
-
With a short flight we depart for the heart of the Peruvian Andes and the unique Cusco. Upon our arrival we thoroughly get to know the capital of the Inca empire with its excellent colonial architecture, which screams the demonstration of the superiority of the Spanish conquerors over the once glorious empire. The famous Plaza de Armas with the Cathedral and the chapel of El Triunfo with the famous hagiographies of the Cusco School, the temple of San Domenico built on the famous Coricancha, as well as the imposing archaeological site of Sasayhuaman that dominates the city with its unique acropolis, built with oversized stones, are the main attractions that we will enjoy on this tour. But we are not finished. Our day will end with the archaeological complex of Qenqo, Puca Pucara, the Inca military fortress, and Tambomachay, the… spa of the empire!
Day 4: CUSCO - MATSU PITZU - HOLLANDAYTABO (SACRED VALLEY) OLD MOUNTAIN: THE TEMPLE OF THE SUN AND OTHER STORIES
+
-
Another wonderful day, it invites us to seize it. After breakfast we depart for a full-day visit to the legendary Machu Picchu! The top archaeological site in South America, the "Old Mountain" - as Machu Picchu is translated into Greek and which was discovered by chance in 1911 - consists of approximately 150 buildings, including baths, houses, temples and altars. The Temple of the Sun, the Chamber with the Three Windows, the Temple of the Condor, the carved rock Intihuatana which also served as a sundial are some of the monuments that, combined with the lush vegetation and the imposing architecture, will impress even the most "read" traveler. With our minds still wandering in the mysteries of ancient civilization, we take the train back to the Sacred Valley where we will spend the night.
Day 5: HOLLANDAYTABO - PISAC MARKET - INKARIY MUSEUM - CUSCO
+
-
Today we will explore the Sacred Valley. We descend to Ollantaytambo, a village of great strategic importance for both the Incas and the Spanish, as it was the gateway to the Sacred Valley from the side of the Amazon rainforest. Due to its great importance, the Incas took care to equip it with large grain warehouses on the surrounding slopes and to decorate it with stone structures, of which those with carved monoliths on the Hill of Temples stand out. The village, built next to the river with the foundations of its buildings dating from the pre-Columbian period, is uniquely beautiful. The top attraction of the day is the colorful market in Pisac and the Inkariy Museum with wax figures depicting the Incas. After the tour, transfer to our hotel in Cusco. Tonight we will enjoy our dinner at a local restaurant in the city with traditional songs and dances.
Day 6: CUSCO – PUNO
+
-
After breakfast we depart from Cusco, the "mythical" capital of the Inca Empire. Following a unique route in the heart of the Andes, we will stop at the village of Andahuaylillas where we will visit the magnificent Sistine Chapel of America. Next stop in the Raqchi area to visit the ruins of the Wiracocha temple. Then we will take a photo at the "Abra La Raya" point which, with an altitude of 4,338 meters, is the border between the provinces of Puno and Cusco. At the end of this exciting route we arrive at the lakeside Puno and head to our hotel. The magnificent Sistine Chapel of America Wiracocha de Dios church
Day 7: PUNO
+
-
At the edge of the modern world: Floating islands and Indians on a boat trip that you will remember forever. Our day begins with a boat trip on Lake Titicaca, where we will visit the unique "floating islands", made of reeds, which have been inhabited for centuries by the indigenous Uros Indians. With an area of 8,372 square kilometers, Titicaca is the largest lake in South America and the largest in the world at this altitude. A life experience that gives us the opportunity to vividly record a way of life, which has been preserved to this day untouched by the influences of the modern world. Afterwards, we will visit Silustani with the famous Chulpas (tombs - towers that were used as the last residences for the citizens of the Kolya, a civilization that preceded that of the Incas), which is waiting for us to explore.
Day 8: PUNO – LIMA (LARCO HERRERA MUSEUM)
